Teacher Evaluation for Professional Growth

Teacher Evaluation for Professional GrowthThere are several key considerations to be made by states and districts as they begin to design and develop new educator evaluation systems. In June of 2014, Center on Great Teachers and Leaders (GTL Center) Director Angela Minnici presented to California on several of these crucial evaluation system design considerations. She discussed the purpose of teacher evaluation and walked participants through the process of developing and refining their goals. This presentation also addressed:

  • Benefits and challenges of using multiple measures, including observation, student growth measures, and surveys
  • Approaches to weighting and combining multiple measures
  • Integrating evaluation to support professional learning
