Preparing Educators for Evaluation and Feedback: Planning for Professional Learning

The preparation of evaluators and teachers is a key challenge facing states and districts that are implementing new educator evaluation systems. In June 2014, Deputy Director Lynn Holdheide, of the Center on Great Teachers and Leaders (GTL Center), spoke at the West Comprehensive Center. Holdheide presented tips and strategies that states and districts can use to develop high-quality evaluation training plans. This presentation discussed:

  • How to identify evaluation training approaches
  • What makes a high-quality evaluator training process
  • The critical role of assessing and monitoring evaluators’ skills to ensure valid evaluation results
  • Next steps for communicating an evaluation training approach.
