Measure of Teachers’ Contributions to Student Learning Growth

The goals for educator evaluation focused on contributions to student learning include both accountability AND instructional improvement. Measures on contributions to student learning should be comparable, rigorous, and fair but also provide regularly collected data on students’ performance in order to adjust and differentiate instruction. In August 2014, Laura Goe presented at the National Education Association of Vermont on the different approaches to measuring contributions to student growth. She discussed possible measures such as student learning objectives, standardized tests, projects, products, and portfolios.
