Connecting Teacher Evaluation, College and Career Readiness Standards, and Professional Learning

Connecting Teacher Evaluation, College & Career Readiness Standards, and Professional LearningMany states are in the midst of implementing new educator evaluation systems while also implementing new college and career readiness standards. These reforms are often developed in silos and thought of as two separate initiatives. At the National Association of State Boards of Education conference in January 2014, Angela Minnici presented on connecting teacher evaluation, college and career readiness standards, and professional learning. In this presentation, Minnici describes a process for creating coherence between the policies, systems, and structures for evaluation and college and career readiness standards. Participants identified professional learning opportunities for educators that can lead to increased instructional quality and positive outcomes for students.
