Can social and emotional learning skills help facilitate student mastery of college and career readiness standards? In July 2014, Nick Yoder presented at the West Virginia Safe and Supportive Schools Conference on how to connect school climate, college and career readiness standards, and social and emotional learning. Participants at this session:

  • Discussed the connections between school climate reform and college and career readiness standards.
  • Discussed the instructional shifts required for college and career readiness.
  • Considered social and emotional learning skills as a connector to school climate.
  • Reviewed social and emotional learning strategies that educators can use to help colleagues make the instructional shift.
